Sandra Bullock and “The Proposal”
Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) a Canadian chief executive director who was going to get deported from US soil and of course lost her job would challenge the law, blackmailed her assistant whom she tormented for years, Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynold) to marry her. On the other hand, he is willing to compromise in order to secure his career in publishing industry with condition he is promoted to editor when everything is over.
With an immigration office on their tails, this unlikely couple needs to spend a couple of days in Alaska celebrating Andrew’s grandma’s 90th birthday cum to understand each other in detail before the immigration interrogation take place. This is where all the romance and sentimental kicks in. The plot is typical and predictable ‘chick-flicks’ with one and only ending. However, the script was well written. Every screen did relate to each and another without much draggy lovey dovey piece.
When it comes to humor, this movie won’t let you down with the witty grandma (Betty White) and the comedienne Ramone (Oscar Nunez) who is just everywhere in it. Overall, this is not a block-buster or something to shout about but worth watching. The beautiful Alaskan setting and the cheerful effect it brought worth every effort I put in getting the tickets on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
