The outfit for the royal wedding, although it's Harry's, not Kate's!

Prince Harry is set to be best man for his brother’s wedding dressed in the uniform of the Blues and Royals - despite training to be an helicopter pilot.

The 26-year-old is likely to dress in the gold brocade of the Household Cavalry State Ceremonial Uniform, rather than that of the Army Air Corps.

Prince William’s younger brother was on hand earlier today as Kate Middleton went through a practice run at Westminster Abbey ahead of the big day on April 29.

But while all eyes will be on the bride’s outfit, it seems the best man could also have a surprise in store with his ensemble.

Harry is entitled to wear the uniform because, when he graduated from Sandhurst, he joined the Blues and Royals, becoming a tank troop commander, promoted in April 2008, to the rank of Lieutenant with The Household Cavalry (Blues and Royals).

However, a switch to train as a pilot on the Apache helicopter after his service in Afghanistan in 2008 means, although he is working in the air arm, he is still technically with the Blues and Royals.

His training is scheduled to finish later this year.

Brothers in arms: Princes William and Harry at Trooping the Colour, both in the uniform of their regiment, the Blues and Royals

And what will they wear? Speculation is mounting that William may wear a similar outfit to Harry - but the bride’s decision on what to wear has been kept under wraps

The Prince of Wales’ website declares: ’Until The Prince has completed his training, he formally remains a Lieutenant in the Household Cavalry (Blues and Royals) on attachment to the Army Air Corps.’
