Adult Barn Owl in Flight

An adult barn owl, Tyto alba, in flight in evening light (blurred to illustrate movement). One of the most unmistakable, and beautiful bird species, the barn owl is also one of the most widespread occuring in Europe, Africa, Asia, The Americas and Australasia. It feeds mainly on small rodents and is active at night and at dawn and dusk. It is also protected under the 1981 wildlife and countryside act.
