Miley Cyrus puts her bikini tattoos on show in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

It seems Miley Cyrus’ love of tattoos runs in the family.

The 18-year-old pop star and her mother strutted around the beach in Brazil yesterday in skimpy bikinis, both flaunting their oversized inkings.

Miley’s large dream-catcher tattoo on her right ribcage was clearly visible in her grey two-piece, while Tish showed off a huge wings tattoo on her back while sporting a hot pink two-piece.

Along with some friends the pair were having fun at Barra da Tijuca beach in Rio and took time out to relax on the sandy shore.

As well as her dream catcher, Miley also has the words ’Just Breathe’ inked underneath her bust line.

And on the little finger of her right hand is a heart tattoo.

Miley’s parents have always accepted her wish to be tattooed.

When a 17-year-old Miley wanted to get her first tattoo in 2009, it was Tish who signed the consent form, before she and husband Billy Ray requested some body art themselves.

Miley Cyrus is currently on her Gypsy Heart world tour and was taking some time out in between performances - she will hit the stage in Rio tomorrow night before heading to Australia later this summer

The tattoo artist in question was Christopher Garcia, an award-winning Hollywood tattoo artist, who has also tattooed Miley’s half-brother Trace, who has a ’full sleeve’ of tattoos on both arms.

U.S. law prohibits tattoos for under eighteens, so it caused controversy when pictures of an underage Miley’s ’Just breathe’ tattoo emerged.

Miley is currently taking some time out from her Gypsy Heart world tour and is currently jetting around the various Latin countries singing her greatest hits.

She has already been to Chile and Argentina and she is set to take the stage in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo later this week.

Miley will then fly down under for the end of her tour in Australia.

Tish is seemingly having a great time globe trotting with her daughter and even tweeted an embarrassing picture of Miley sleeping on a recent flight.

Yesterday, Miley and her entourage visited the Christ the Redeemer statue at the top of Corcovado Mountain overlooking Rio.

They posed for pictures and watched the sun set before heading for dinner.

She arrived in the Latin country yesterday to a fanfare from her Brazilian fans ahead of her concerts there wearing short denim shorts, a sweater and carrying a back pack.
